Finalizing and Presenting Your Project in 30 Minutes

This document is designed to guide your group in finalizing and presenting your COM 217: Science Writing and Presentation group project. By following this framework during a 30-minute group session, you should be able to put the finishing touches on your project and prepare for a successful presentation.

Step 1: Review Your Work

Start by reviewing the work you’ve done so far. Check that you’ve met all the project requirements and that your video is clear, engaging, and professional. Make sure your thesis is well supported and that your video effectively communicates your chosen STEM topic.

Step 2: Finalize Your Video

Once you’re satisfied with your video’s content, it’s time to finalize the technical aspects. Check the video and audio quality, ensure the transitions are smooth, and add any necessary captions or annotations. Remember, your video should not only be informative but also enjoyable to watch.

Step 3: Prepare Your Presentation

After finalizing your video, start preparing for your presentation. Discuss who will introduce the team members, explain the choice of topic, its significance, the target audience, and how you adapted the video for the audience. Also, prepare to discuss which science communication principles were used in your video.

Step 4: Practice Your Presentation

Finally, take some time to practice your presentation. Make sure each group member is comfortable with their part and that the presentation flows smoothly. Remember, a well-practiced presentation will not only be more polished but also more engaging for your audience.
